Lenten Prayer 2026
40 Days Of Lent
Giving, Prayer, Fasting
Our journey through Lent will include the disciplines of Giving, Praying and Fasting. For Giving, pick worthy causes as the Lord leads. For praying, use this prayer guide each day (except Sunday’s) so that we can be united in our petitions. For Fasting, join us in fasting from Thursday dinner until after 3 pm on Friday (that moment when Jesus conquered death by His death).
This guide will also be available daily on social media, on our app, and online at CypressMC.org/LENT.

Week 4

Monday, March 16: Seeking and Sending CMC’s Next Pastor
To Strengthen and Encourage; 1 Thessalonians 3:2-3

We sent Timothy, our brother and fellow worker for God in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that none of you would be shaken by these trials. For you know that we are destined for this.

Lord Jesus, we ask that the new pastor you are sending to us is able and willing to strengthen your people in their faith. Fil them with your Spirit that he she is enabled to challenge and encourage us know and fulfill our purpose. Amen.

Tuesday, March 17: For The Church
2 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested[a] on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Gracious Lord, renew us in the gift of the Holy Spirit. Fill, illumine and inspire Cypress Methodist with a new fire in our hearts. Amen.
Wednesday, March 18: Testing In The Wilderness
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”
Lord Jesus, defend us from the temptation to worship anything but the true and living God. Reveal to us where our true trust and loyalties lie and grant us an undivided heart. Amen.
Thursday, March 19: Lenten Disciplines
16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Holy Father, in our fasting help us see and eat of the hidden, spiritual bread. Nourish our souls with your holy word. Amen.
Friday, March 20: Transformative Potential
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Lord, continually shape and form our Character in the image of Christ. Show us who we have not forgiven and give us the grace to forgive them as you have forgiven us. Amen.
Saturday, March 21: Personal Devotion
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Heavenly, create in me a heart that hungers and thirsts for you. Quench my soul with your love, and let me feast on the bread of your presence.Amen
