Lenten Prayer 2026
40 Days Of Lent
Giving, Prayer, Fasting
Our journey through Lent will include the disciplines of Giving, Praying and Fasting. For Giving, pick worthy causes as the Lord leads. For praying, use this prayer guide each day (except Sunday’s) so that we can be united in our petitions. For Fasting, join us in fasting from Thursday dinner until after 3 pm on Friday (that moment when Jesus conquered death by His death).
This guide will also be available daily on social media, on our app, and online at CypressMC.org/LENT.

Week 2

Monday, February 23: Seeking and Sending CMC’s Next Pastor
Set Apart: Acts 13:1-3
13 Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger,[a] Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
Heavenly Father, by Your Spirit, move now in the hearts and minds of Church leaders to discern those who you are calling to be set apart for the mission and ministry of Cypress MC. Alert them to a new season of partnership and leadership among us.
Tuesday, February 24: For The Church
Hell Shall Not Prevail: Matthew 16
18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock[b] I will build my church, and the gates of hell[c] shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed[d] in heaven.”
Lord Jesus, preserve Cypress Methodist Church against the gates of hell. Use us to release your Kingdom on earth and bind the influence of evil. Amen.

Wednesday, February 25: Testing In The Wilderness
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
Gracious Lord, as we run the race marked out for us, direct our paths away from temptation and sin and deliver us from the evil influences of this world. Amen.
Thursday, February 26: Lenten Disciplines
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Heavenly Father, direct my giving to that which will yield the greatest harvest. Bless and multiply what I give that it may bring forth Kingdom benefits and glorify your Name. Amen.

Friday, February 27: Transformative Potential
16 But when one[c] turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17 Now the Lord[d] is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[e] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[f] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Holy Spirit fill me with your Presence and Power.Work in my heart like leaven in dough that I may increasingly reflect the glory and image of God. Amen.

Saturday, February 28: Personal Devotion
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Good Lord, grant me the great exchange of holiness for sin, forgiveness for bitterness, gracious words that edify for harsh words that belittle. Let me leave blessing wherever I go. Amen.
